PARENTS AWARE
As concerned parents regarding the use of alcohol
and other drugs by our teenagers, the UCHS PTSA is sponsoring the Parent
Aware and Parent Pledge program. The pledge is a promise from parents that
all social events in their home that involve school-age children will be
chaperoned and alcohol and drug free. Parent names only will be published
in the Scroll every issue. When we join together to support healthy
lifestyles and activities for our teens, it is a great support to parents
as well as a great benefit to our children.
WHAT IS GOING ON AT UCHS?
Opportunities for Parent Involvement
Parents have many opportunities to be involved at their children’s
school site (for example, governance
committees, special events, fundraising events, parent organizations, and
in classrooms) and at the
district level (for example, district councils/committees, Parent University,
and special events). We also
encourage parents to support their children at home by making their expectations
about school clear and
creating a positive homework and learning environment.
We at University City High are committed to obtaining community resources
for our school and
invite all constituencies to assist us in the education of our students.
Parent and community involvement at UCHS include the following:
• An active Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).
• EdUCate! University City Foundation for Public Schools.
• Service clubs on campus sponsored by Kiwanis and Rotary International.
• A Site Governance Team composed of teachers, staff, administration,
students, parents, and
community members.
If you want to get involved, please contact email
UCHSMail@aol.com and say
you’d like to be added to the list. We
look forward to hearing
from you!
